Where is the best place to sit in Cyprus?

Cyprus has several microclimates, so where you stay really does matter. If you want the most sun, the highest temperatures, and the least rain, choose the south or east coast. You'll get an average of over 320 days of sunshine a year there!

The best regions for sun, sea and comfort:

  • Larnaca:
A charming boulevard and a lively yet relaxed atmosphere. Perfect as a base thanks to its central location and airport.
  • Limassol:
Trendy port city with a combination of city and beach. It is often slightly warmer than elsewhere on the island, and lively all year round.
  • Ayia Napa / Protaras:
Eastern Cyprus is the domain of white beaches and clear blue bays. Ideal for families, beach lovers, and those who enjoy a more touristy vibe.
  • Paphos:
Located in the southwest and popular with expats and winter residents. Paphos has a milder climate with slightly cooler summers due to the sea breeze, but it remains guaranteed sunny and extremely pleasant. Also interesting for those who want to combine culture and nature.

The Troödos mountains are beautiful, green, and even surprisingly cooler. In early spring and late autumn, it can still be considerably colder here than on the coast. So, if you are coming purely for the sun, it is advisable to avoid Troödos between November and April.

In winter (January, February, and sometimes March), you can even ski here! Cyprus has a small ski area!

Which part of Cyprus is the warmest?

The warmest part of Cyprus is the capital, Nicosia. Due to its inland location (in a valley), it becomes almost tropically hot there in the summer, with temperatures often climbing above 38°C.

The south coast is a little milder (and more pleasant), but still perfect for those who love guaranteed sunshine.

Is Cyprus recommended?

Yes, Cyprus is definitely recommended. Whether you're a beach bum, nature lover, culture vulture, or digital nomad, Cyprus has something to offer for every season and every type of traveler:

  • Sun until well into November
  • Affordable living and travel
  • Delicious cuisine (Mediterranean and Middle Eastern)
  • Lots of peace and quiet outside the high season
  • Safe, EU country, and easily accessible

And for winter visitors or those looking to emigrate to a destination with guaranteed sunshine, Cyprus is even one of Europe's best-kept secrets. Read also: Why I left Belgium for Cyprus.
