The best months are April, May, June, September, October, and early November. You'll enjoy warm temperatures, little rain, and it's often less crowded than in peak season.
But good news, because there is no such thing as the best time to travel to Cyprus and it depends on your wishes.
Cyprus is one of the most sun-sure destinations in Europe, so you can rarely go really wrong. However, there are significant differences between seasons, temperatures, and tourist crowds.
In this article you will discover:
| Month | Temperature | Rush | Swimming? | Recommended for... |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| April | 25°C | Calm | Fresh (21°C) | Nature, walking |
| May | 30°C | Calm | Yes | Sun holiday & action |
| June | 33°C | Attractive | Yes | Beach, snorkeling |
| July–Aug | 37–38°C | Busy | Yes (water warm) | Sun lovers |
| September | 34°C | Quieter | Yes | Romantic travel |
| October | 29°C | Calm | Yes | Families, seniors |
Did you know that in October the seawater is often still 25°C? Swimming is possible well into November or even December!
Cyprus has several microclimates, so where you stay really does matter. If you want the most sun, the highest temperatures, and the least rain, choose the south or east coast. You'll get an average of over 320 days of sunshine a year there!
The best regions for sun, sea and comfort:
The Troödos mountains are beautiful, green, and even surprisingly cooler. In early spring and late autumn, it can still be considerably colder here than on the coast. So, if you are coming purely for the sun, it is advisable to avoid Troödos between November and April.
In winter (January, February, and sometimes March), you can even ski here! Cyprus has a small ski area!
The warmest part of Cyprus is the capital, Nicosia. Due to its inland location (in a valley), it becomes almost tropically hot there in the summer, with temperatures often climbing above 38°C.
The south coast is a little milder (and more pleasant), but still perfect for those who love guaranteed sunshine.
Yes, Cyprus is definitely recommended. Whether you're a beach bum, nature lover, culture vulture, or digital nomad, Cyprus has something to offer for every season and every type of traveler:
